Day 166

Here I have combined an in focus photo with one that I zoomed. I just used the flower part and masked out the leaves.

Day 119

I picked some flowers from a tree on my way home in case I didn't have any creative juices flowing , lucky thing I did. I wasn't in the mood for photography today but somehow had no problem playing around in photoshop. I added several textures and used a vintage action to get this look.

Day 118

I started out wanting to do a close up of a dandelion but wasn't so impressed with it. I went out to the yard and picked the different phases of the growth or death of the daffodil and arraigned them for this photograph. It was still a little plain so I did what I always do and added some texture to it to finish it off.

Day 115

I know another shoe and flower shot? Yes, my plan for this project was to work with textures and I'm still learning a lot . I added some vintage actions and a couple of textures to get this look.

Day 102

With all the beautiful flowers blooming, I chose Dandelions, I'm not sure why.

Day 78

Oops I forgot to upload my photo yesterday ! Here's a tulip that was starting to die, I thought it would be interesting to see the inside for a change. I added a texture. This is actually 2 photos , the first one is the tulip in a smaller size with a blue background , the 2nd is a tulip zoomed in on with a white bacground. The larger one had been set to a lower opacity.

Day 57

I must have tried a hundred shots today with these little flowers and lady bug. I was using my macro lens again with and without the 31mm extension tube. I spent a while getting rid of all the dust bunnies only to finally put a texture on top with lots of little spots.... who knew ! This kinda feels like it could be printed on some form of metal. Can you see the little ladybug?

Day 55

A lily on my black granite bar for the reflection.

Day 54

Another macro flower shot. I tried my hardest to get a nice macro shot of one of these lilies open, but couldn't get anything interesting. This one wasn't opened yet so I back lit and side lit it and made a simple composition.

Day 53

As promised another macro shot today, once again I used my 100mm macro lens with the 35mm extension tube attached. I lite the orchid with a flash thru umbrella at 1/2 power and used 2 daylight bulbs on each side and behind the orchid. This photo is just a small piece of the inside of the orchid. I added a little texture to it to give it more depth.

Day 52

Today I got a bouquet of mixed flowers so I imagine this week will be dedicated to macro shots. This flower is only about 1 inch in size. I used my macro lens with a 35mm extention tube.

Day 43

I got a bunch of these baby calla lilies yesterday to photograph. I put them in the light-box I made yesterday and played around with the lights until I got what I wanted.
Just when you think you understand lights..... it all goes wrong. I started out with a white background then decided it needed some more contrast so I changed the back sheet to black.

Day 24

My daughter bought some heart shaped cookies tonight, so that became my subject for today. After several failed attempts of just photographing the cookies I enlisted Kathryn to be my model. I really wanted to play around with adding gels to my flash to light up the background to be reddish to match Kathryn's blouse and cookie. After many attempts I finally got it. The problem is I really needed a flash for her too, but only had the one working. The pic came out kind of boring so I had to add some textures to make it a little more interesting.
